Company Update
Established in 1995, the Dublin financial-services firm helps clients understand fixed-term deposits, investments, pensions and protection-before making any decisions.
DUBLIN, IE / ACCESS Newswire / August 18, 2026 / For people approaching retirement, the most important financial question often changes. After years spent building savings, investments and pension benefits, the focus can gradually move from "How do I grow my money?" to "How do I protect it, make it last and use it with confidence?"
Coyle Life & Pensions has been helping clients consider those questions since 1995.
Based in Dublin and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland, the firm provides guidance across fixed-term deposits, fixed-rate products, investment funds, pensions, retirement planning, life insurance and financial protection.
Its approach is built around a straightforward principle: financial decisions should be properly understood before they are made.
Coyle Life & Pensions begins with the client's circumstances rather than a particular product. This includes understanding what the money is for, when it may be needed, how much certainty the client requires and what level of risk they could genuinely afford to take.
The firm then sets out the available options, costs, potential disadvantages and relevant protections in clear language.
"People should never feel that they need to make an important financial decision during a telephone call," a spokesperson for Coyle Life & Pensions said. "Our role is to understand the client's position, explain the available options and then provide the information in writing. The client can take their time, discuss it with their family or accountant and decide only when they are comfortable."
Experienced financial professionals at Coyle Life & Pensions review each client's circumstances before discussing potential solutions.
More Than Three Decades of Experience
Established in 1995, Coyle Life & Pensions has advised clients through very different financial environments.
These have included the technology-market downturn, the global financial crisis, the collapse of the Irish banking system, the eurozone debt crisis, an extended period of exceptionally low interest rates, the pandemic and the subsequent return of higher inflation and interest rates.
Every period created different challenges, but the firm says several principles have remained consistent.
Money that may be needed soon should be treated differently from capital that can remain invested for ten or fifteen years. The potential disadvantage of a product should be understood as clearly as its possible benefit. Where protection limits apply per institution, the institution holding the money matters as much as the product itself.
Most importantly, simplicity should never be confused with safety.
Even products that appear straightforward can involve restrictions, penalties, inflation risk or limits on the protection available. Coyle Life & Pensions therefore places particular emphasis on explaining what happens in different circumstances, including what may happen if a client needs access to their money earlier than expected.
Understanding Fixed-Term Deposits
Fixed-term deposits can be suitable for people who value certainty and have money that they will not need during an agreed period.
With a fixed-term deposit, money is placed with a bank for a specified term at an interest rate agreed at the outset. Subject to the individual product terms, the depositor receives the capital and interest when the deposit matures.
Because the rate is fixed, the depositor can normally calculate in advance what the deposit will be worth at the end of the term.
However, fixed-term deposits are not automatically suitable for every client or every part of their savings.
Early access may be restricted, unavailable or subject to a penalty. If general interest rates rise during the term, the depositor normally remains on the original rate. Inflation can also reduce the real purchasing power of the capital, even where its nominal value remains unchanged.
Coyle Life & Pensions helps clients consider the institution accepting the deposit, the applicable term, the interest arrangements, early-access conditions, tax considerations and the deposit-protection scheme that may apply.
In Ireland, the Deposit Guarantee Scheme protects eligible deposits with participating Irish-authorised institutions up to €100,000 per person, per institution. Deposits held with an institution authorised in another EU member state are generally covered by that institution's home-country deposit guarantee scheme, subject to its rules.
The protection belongs to the eligible deposit held with the relevant institution. It does not mean that an intermediary independently guarantees the client's capital.
For larger amounts, clients may also need to consider whether spreading eligible deposits across separate institutions is appropriate for their circumstances.
"The rate is only one part of the decision," the Coyle Life & Pensions spokesperson added. "Clients also need to understand who will hold their money, which jurisdiction the institution is authorised in, what protection applies, when the money can be accessed and whether the term matches their actual plans."
Different Money May Require Different Solutions
Coyle Life & Pensions advises across several areas because clients rarely have only one financial objective.
A client may want to keep an emergency reserve readily accessible, secure a fixed return on another portion of their capital and invest a separate amount for longer-term growth. Pension assets may require a different approach again.
The firm's services include:
Fixed-term deposits for clients seeking a known rate over an agreed term.
Fixed-rate solutions for clients prepared to commit capital for a specified period.
Diversified investment funds across different asset classes and risk levels.
Pension reviews, tracing and consolidation.
Personal pensions, PRSAs and executive pension arrangements.
Personal Retirement Bonds.
Retirement planning, including consideration of ARFs and annuities.
Life insurance, mortgage protection and specified-illness cover.
Income protection and business-protection arrangements.
Reviews of existing investments, pensions and protection policies.
Investment funds can provide diversification and the potential for longer-term growth, but they do not provide the same certainty as deposits. Their value may rise or fall, and investors may receive less than they invested.
For this reason, Coyle Life & Pensions says the client's timeframe is central to every recommendation. Capital that may be required within the next few years should not automatically be exposed to the same risks as money that can genuinely remain invested for a decade or longer.
Knowing Where the Money Goes
One of the questions clients frequently ask is whether their money passes through Coyle Life & Pensions.
The firm acts as an intermediary and does not hold or control client capital. Where a client opens a deposit, the money is placed with the relevant institution. Where a client makes an investment, the money is placed with the relevant product provider.
Coyle Life & Pensions advises, arranges and assists with the necessary documentation, but the institution receiving the money is identified clearly before the client proceeds.
The firm encourages clients to ask four questions whenever considering a financial product:
Which institution will actually hold my money?
Which protection or compensation scheme applies to this particular product?
What are the relevant costs, restrictions and risks?
What is the worst realistic outcome, and what circumstances could cause it?
According to the firm, clients should expect specific answers to each question before committing their capital.
Coyle Life & Pensions combines more than three decades of experience with a clear, written and unhurried approach to financial guidance.
A Consultation Without Pressure
Coyle Life & Pensions offers an initial telephone consultation designed to help clients understand their current position and the options that may be available.
The conversation normally begins with the client's objectives, existing savings, pensions, investments, income needs and expected timeframe.
Clients do not need to arrive with every document perfectly organised. Pension tracing and reviewing existing arrangements form part of the work the firm undertakes.
Following the initial conversation, relevant information can be provided by email so the client has an opportunity to consider it privately and obtain independent tax or legal guidance where appropriate.
Nothing needs to be decided during the initial call.
"A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment," the spokesperson said. "Sometimes we identify an area that could be improved. On other occasions, the most appropriate advice may be to leave an existing arrangement where it is. A recommendation only has value if it is suitable for that particular client."
The initial consultation is free and carries no obligation to proceed. Before a client enters into any arrangement, the firm explains in writing how it is remunerated in connection with the relevant product.
Independently Verifiable Regulation
